Tips exporting Excel files (XLS) to HTML.
I'm sure that you have faced with the task of exporting an Excel file to HTML and have to clean all the code generated by MS Office. If you know what I'm talking about you know that is a very tedious work.
Yesterday I faced the same problem, I have to include a Excel table into a HTML file for a client and have to clean all the useless code generated by MS Office. Solution? Well have you ever tried OpenOffice? If you haven't now you have a reason to do it. The code generated by OpenOffice is very clean compared to MS Office. I only have to clean some TD tags removing some attributes like align or width.
In about 2 minutes I got a clean table just to apply the style I wanted. With a MS Office HTML you will expend almost 10-15 minutes cleaning the code if the file isn't too large.
Reminder: Don't forget to wish Peter Hall a Happy Birthday tomorrow!
